Dress-up Vase by Sato Oki

The Dress-up series of vases leverages the flower and the vase to present the illusion of a hairstyle and clothing. The exterior uses an unglazed bisque finish. Each item in the series appears to be a simple flower vase from one side, but from the other, the vase’s mouth appears to be various different clothing collars. The series is available in white and various colors achieved through a kneading technique which blends the dye into the raw clay.

The L size Dress-up vase gives the impression of a father/husband.

The M size Dress-up vase gives the impression of a mother/wife.

A glimpse of gloss seen from the collar serves as an accent due to the bisque finish of the exterior and the glossy glaze on the inside.
